Nick Cannon would not mind having more kids. The veteran entertainer recently stopped by The Breakfast Club where he talked about his family and going against the “Eurocentric concept” of having children with only one woman.
“I always used to joke around that I wanted the 12 tribes [but] somewhere 10 to 12 [kids],” Cannon shared with the show’s co-hosts. “I have learned so much from my children and it’s so amazing,” Nick revealed. “I really love being around my kids,” the celebrity father further explained.
“Just that youthful energy,” Cannon continued. “It feels like you get to relive every time. And I think because I have been through so much in my life physically, mentally, and spiritually, the best place I find is the time that I spend with my kids.”
Some have criticized Nick Cannon for having children with multiple women. “Why do people question that,” the celebrity father asked during his interview with The Breakfast Club. “That’s a Eurocentric concept when you think about it,” Nick continued.
“The idea is that you’re supposed to have this one person for the rest of your life,” the celebrity father added. “And really that’s just to classify property when you think about it,” Cannon shared. “When you go into that mindset when we’re really talking that talk, just the idea that a man should have one woman.”
“We shouldn’t have anything. I have no ownership over this person. If we’re really talking about how we co-exist and how we populate, it’s about what exchange can we create together? So I’ve never really subscribed to that mentality.”
Nick Cannon was married to Mariah Carey for eight years before finalizing his divorce in 2016. “I understand the institution of marriage,” Cannon told The Breakfast Club hosts. “But if we go back to what that was about, that was to classify property. That was because one father gave another man his daughter for land. So when you really get to that concept it’s like, ‘We have to change all of this up.’ I don’t want ownership over anybody. I don’t have ownership of any of the mothers. We create families in the sense of ‘We created a beautiful entity.'”
Nick Cannon has seven kids in all. The celebrity father welcomed four of his children within the past nine months. Nick and Mariah’s kids, Morrocan and Monroe, are the entertainer’s oldest children.
