Ice-T and Coco’s daughter, Chanel Nicole, has a message for the mommy shamers. The youngster’s Instagram page was updated with a post that addressed critics who scrutinized her mom for admitting to breastfeeding the 5-year-old.
Coco Austin, who was previously criticized for breastfeeding her daughter at 3-years-old, admitted during a conversation with Us Weekly that she still nurses her daughter who is now 5-years-old. “Chanel still likes my boobs,” Coco told the publication. “It’s a big bonding moment for a mother and your child.”
Coco went on to ask, “Why take that away from her? If she doesn’t want it, all right, that’s where you stop it. But I’m not just going to say no.”
Coco Austin and Ice-T have repeatedly said that breastfeeding is more of a comfort and bonding measure than nutrition. Still, critics were quick to point out the problem with 5-year-olds only having breast milk for food. Chanel Nicole’s social media post addressed the mommy shamers this past weekend.
“Apparently mommy and I have been trending lately,” the Instagram update read. “A lot more love than hate but still some mommy shaming out there,” the post continued. “My family lives in a beautiful bubble of love and it really doesn’t matter what negative comment you make. We’re not changing our life (sic) for you.”
Several supporters praised the post shared on Chanel Nicole’s Instagram feed. “People shouldn’t be shaming Coco for doing what’s natural,” one fan declared. “Breastfeeding is a beautiful journey.” Another supporter said, “You have a beautiful mommy who adores you. Don’t listen to haters. They are just jealous! Continue to love and laugh pretty girl!”
Chanel Nicole is Ice-T and Coco Austin’s only child together. Ice-T also has adult children, Letesha and Tracy Jr., from a previous relationship.
