Tia Mowry is nervous about her kids, Cree and Cairo, going back to school this fall. The veteran actress shares her feelings with SheKnows.
“I’m very anxious, to be honest with you,” the celebrity mom reveals. “I never thought in a million years that going back to school would be something ‘new,'” Tia reveals.
The coronavirus pandemic shuttered businesses and closed schools throughout the United States last year. Children and parents were thrust into a world of distance learning without warning and very little guidance on how to proceed with instructions. Now, well over a year after lockdowns were initiated, Tia joins other parents in preparing their kids for their first day at school in person.
“Basically, I’m just really leaning on faith, and,” Tia tells SheKnows. “Sometimes you just have to do what you have to do,” the Family Reunion star admits. “But I’m really, really thinking about the kids and their growth,” Tia explains. “I think it’s important that they go back to school. And Cree has definitely voiced wanting to be around his friends.”
Some parents found their kids thrived more during the pandemic because of distance learning. Tia, however, believes socializing is a significant part of education. “I personally believe that [by] socializing and being around your peers, you learn from each other,” the celebrity mom shares. “You grow.”
Tia, like other moms and dads, rearranged her home to accommodate for distance learning during the pandemic. The actress plans to remove most of those moderations going forward. “It was all about trying to find new ways to motivate them and keep them engaged and happy,” Mowry says of her homeschooling setup. “I don’t know if I want to remember that,” the celebrity mom shares concerning the temporary conditions. “I’m putting a desk in his room, so he can have a little more independence,” Tia tells SheKnows.
