LeBron James had his sons, Bronny and Bryce, at the ‘Space Jam: A New Legacy Party in The Park After Dark’ event at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California, on Tuesday (June 29). The Los Angeles Lakers player, who stars in the film, was accompanied by several of the movie’s co-stars.
Don Cheadle and Cedric Joe were also in attendance at the social event at Six Flags. Don greeted LeBron on the red carpet as the celebrity father bonded with his sons in the spotlight. Many could not get over how tall Bronny was compared to his father. Many speculate the 16-year-old is 6’2″ and is bound to be as tall or even taller than his dad.
Space Jam: A New Legacy is a dream come true for many who remember the first Space Jam movie that starred Michael Jordan. The 1996 film revolved around Jordan’s real-life decision to retire from basketball after the death of his father, James R. Jordan Sr., who was murdered in Lumberton, North Carolina, in 1993. The newest installment of Space Jam also revolves around LeBron James, though the subject matter is different.
“This is not a sequel,” James shared during a recent interview with Entertainment Weekly (EW). “The movie stands on its own,” the celebrity father added. “But, more importantly, this movie is going to surprise a lot of people, because it brings up a lot about family and the dynamic between a father and son,” James further explained.
“There are parents who want to push their kids to do certain things because this is what they do, but sometimes you have to look into a kid and be able to have an open mind and ear to help them become the thing they’ve dreamed of. There’s a lot of father-son moments that people are going to relate to, and I’m looking forward to people just getting the raw emotion out of it, and understanding and seeing what it’s all about. It’s a huge family movie, and I can’t wait for people to get together and have their popcorn and everything that comes with it. It’s going to be exciting.”
Space Jam: A New Legacy – starring LeBron James, Don Cheadle, Cedric Joe, Khris Davis, and more – makes its public debut on Friday, July 16, 2021.
