DMX’s new album will be released posthumously today. The project, entitled, Exodus, carries out the late rappers wishes as he planned to honor youngest son with the album title before his death.
In a recent interview with TMZ, Ruff Ryders CEO Joaquin Dean stated that, “X shared his desire to name the forthcoming project after his four-year-old son, Exodus, who he was reportedly growing closer to as he and longtime friend Swizz Beatz worked on putting the album together.”
In the wake of his friend’s tragic death on April 9, 2021, Swizz Beatz decided to honor DMXâs wish. In addition to bearing his name, “Exodus” also pays homage to the young man on two tracks off the album: âExodus Skitâ and âLetter to my Son (Call Your Father).â
Giving testament to the fact that their bond is still stronger than ever, recently Desiree Lindstrom, DMX’s fiancee, posted a picture on Instagram of her son Exodus taking a special gift to his father’s grave.
“I just wanted to share how much of an impact Earl #dmx Simmons had on our son @exodus_simmons1 life, as a great father… My son just lost his first tooth two nights ago.. what he told me out of his own mouth was that first, he want the tooth fairy to give him money for it but he didnât want her to take it because he wanted to give his first tooth to his daddy! So today we put his first lost baby tooth in a baggie and put it in the ground with his daddy… he loves and misses his daddy so much and wants to continue to include him in his life even though heâs not physically here with us.. this touched my heart..!”
“Exodus” will also feature DMX’s eight-year-old daughter Sonovah Hillman Jr., Griselda, JAY-Z, Nas and more. According to Swizz Beats, the album is a âmasterpiece.” To celebrate its release, bikers will pay tribute to the late emcee with planned âryde outs,â Dean told TMZ.
