George Floyd’s daughter, Gianna Floyd, can rest a little easier now that her father’s killer, Derek Chauvin, has been found guilty on all charges. As “accountability which is the first step towards justice” is served, Gianna Floyd trends on twitter after Chauvin’s verdict.
yessssss, this is just the tip of the iceberg, society has a longggggggggg way to go but it is a little justice for one family, although, justice would be seeing George Floyd raise his daughter Gianna! https://t.co/qtEr3sPCHg

One Twitter user wrote in response to Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison, “yessssss, this is just the tip of the iceberg, society has a longggggggggg way to go but it is a little justice for one family, although, justice would be seeing George Floyd raise his daughter Gianna!”
Another user reminded us of the poignant words of Gianna, “My Daddy changed the world.”

In addition to prayers and words of encouragement for Gianna and the rest of her family, the gofundme set up for Gianna back in June 2020 is once again trending. In addition to those donating and making sure that Gianna Floyd is taken care financially, Texas Southern University ensured that her education is taken care of as well. Last year, the Texas HBCU gave Gianna a full scholarship to attend the university when she becomes of age.

“This Board is committed to education and understands that a college degree is one of many powerful steps toward a productive and successful life,” Albert H. Myres, chair of the Board of Regents, said in a statement. “We know that this gesture cannot take the place of her dad’s loving presence, but we hope that it will contribute to easing her journey through life.”
Gerald Smith, chairman of the TSU Foundation added: “The TSU Foundation is proud to provide this privately-funded scholarship to Ms. Floyd. We know the value of an education in the pursuit of solutions and generational progress. We look forward to embracing her into the TSU family.”

Last month, the seven-year-old, spoke to ABC News with her mother. She told the interviewer what kind of father Floyd was.
“He was kind and he was nice to my momma all the time,” Gianna said, as she sat next to her mother, Roxie Washington.
With the conviction of Derek Chauvin, there is great expectation to embrace the next step in the fight for racial justice in America. Gianna has unquestionably become the embodiment of George Floyd’s legacy to “change the world”.
