Waka Flocka fully supports his teen daughter, Charlie, and her girlfriend. The rapper recently discussed his response to Charlie’s decision to bring a girl as a date to her quinceanera.
“I was like ok,” Waka shared with the hosts of Fox Soul’s The Mix. “I don’t think, I don’t have expectations because stuff that you’re expecting is never gonna be 100 percent,” Flocka added. “I don’t believe in 100 percent, “Waka said. “I believe in experiences. So, I can’t say I don’t like something or I don’t love something if I never experienced it.”
Some viewers were amazed to see Waka Flocka’s calm demeanor during Charlie’s “coming out” scene on the family’s reality show, Waka and Tammy: What The Flocka. Waka, however, revealed that nothing about the segment was about Charlie having enough confidence to reveal her authenticity.
“She didn’t have to come out because she was never hiding,” Waka shared with the hosts of The Mix. “If we were hiding, it would never be on television. Let’s be extremely clear [about that],” he added.
“These kids today … we’re from the hood. We’re from the struggle. But our kids are privileged,” Flocka said. “Nobody taught us how to raise privileged Black kids. So right now, you’ve just got to be a father. You can’t think about what a blog is going to say, or what a person is going to say. At the end of the day, that’s your child.”
The rapper further explained, “If I approached it like a strong-minded male, it would run her away. So, I just followed in my wife’s footsteps and like, maybe just chill and listen to her.”
Charlie is Tammy Rivera’s biological daughter. Waka Flocka has wholeheartedly embraced his role as a stepdad to the teen. He even gave his stepdaughter a promise ring at his wedding renewal ceremony in 2019.
