Girlfriends star Golden Brooks is twinning with her daughter, Dakota Tao Brooks-Woodside. The celebrity mom recently uploaded new photos that showed her smiling while hanging with her “mini-me.”
One candid showed Dakota and Golden smiling while in the car. The Girlfriends star leaned into her daughter who was definitely ready for her close-up while rocking braids. Another candid showed Dakota striking a pose sans her mom in the shot. “My purpose,” Golden told her social media fans. “That’s it,” the actress added. “Giving F A C E.”
Golden Brooks is most known for her role as Maya Wilkes in Girlfriends. Fans of the hit series have been able to reconnect with their favorite episodes thanks to Netflix offering the show on its platform.
“I learned about really good makeup during Girlfriends,” Brooks said during a recent interview with Page Six. “I think that was my introduction to good-quality makeup,” the actress reflected. “I still use beauty secrets that I’ve learned from Girlfriends to this day,” Golden shared.
Brooks will soon return to the small screen as Paris’ mother in Marsai Martin’s Saturdays. Paris is a 13-year-old roller skating fanatic. She loves to compete in the sport, but sickle cell disease presents a challenge for Paris. It will take every bit of determination, and a lot of support from her family, for this teen to beat the odds and accomplish her dreams.
“When we met with Marsai about this project, we couldn’t have been more impressed with her passion for diverse storytelling and commitment to female empowerment,” Rafael Garcia, vice president of Development at Disney Branded Television, said in a statement regarding the upcoming comedy series. “We’re extremely excited to team up with Norman and the Genius Entertainment team to tap into roller-skating culture in a way that’s truly both authentic and aspirational for our audience.”
Saturdays is set to make its mark on the Disney Channel in the coming months.
