Vanessa Simmons and her daughter Ava Marie are making fashion moves! The celebrity mom recently took to social media to give her fans an update about her business ventures.
“Me and Boss baby [are] making fashion moves out here and she has some fire coming for @Lovepastry,” Vanessa told her Instastories viewers. Dozens loved what they heard from Vanessa. They also enjoyed the notion of being able to support Vanessa’s new “Mommy and Me” clothing line at Wal-Mart.
“This is just so exciting,” Vanessa told her social media followers. “I am really excited for my daughter,” the celebrity mom added. “This is a brand I am building out for her so that when she turns 18 or 21, she has a brand to run because she is very creative and very into fashion. This is like a dream come true for me.”
Vanessa Simmons understands the importance of starting in entrepreneurship as soon as possible. She and her younger sister, Angela Simmons, launched Pastry sneakers brand before Vanessa celebrated her twenty-fifth birthday. Some thought Pastry was a fly-by-night company after the sneakers did not significantly expand. Vanessa, however, has built Pastry to be an all-around fashion line.
Ava Marie is the youngest member of the Pastry team as she serves as a Junior Designer for the company. Vanessa is the brand’s Creative Director.
“There’s room for everyone,” Vanessa said during a recent interview with REVOLT. “Being a Black woman entrepreneur, it’s about inspiring the generation below us, the people who are looking to start businesses and companies to let them know it’s possible,” the celebrity mom added.
“Even when we started Pastry, that’s what it was about,” Vanessa shared. “Obviously, sneakers were the main thing, but we’re always meant to be an aspirational brand. That goes into all of the businesses we have. We want to empower the next generation of people coming up.”
Ava Marie is Vanessa Simmons’ daughter with Michael Wayans. She celebrated her seventh birthday in January.
