“My legacy is not my work,” Murphy tells Roker. “My legacy is my children,” the celebrity father continued. “My legacy are (sic) these 10 human beings that I brought into this world.”

Eddie Murphy has five children – Bria, Shayne, Bella, Miles, and Zola – with his ex-wife, Nicole Mitchell. The celebrity father has two kids, Izzy and Max, with his girlfriend, Paige Butcher. Eddie Murphy also has a daughter named Angel with former Spice Girls member Mel B.

Bella had the opportunity to see her father in his work element during the making of Coming 2 America. The young adult, who is getting into the field of acting, auditioned to be in her father’s film and scored a role as Eddie’s on-screen daughter.

“I can’t even put into words,” Murphy shares with Roker. “You know, if you have children, your child could do like a school play, and your heart will burst with pride,” the celebrity father gushes. “To look over on the set, seeing her, I had a big giant proud papa moment every day.”

Coming 2 America picks up where the first film, Coming To America (1988), left off. Prince Akeem learns he has a child in America who was born after his departure from the States more than 30 years ago.

In an effort o make amends, the African prince returns to the United States to bring his long-lost son back to the Mother Land. Building a relationship after 30 years of separation comes with lots of hilarity and a few bumps in the road for Prince Akeem who must deal with the challenges that come with blending two households.

Fans of Coming To America (1988) can catch the sequel on Amazon Prime when Coming 2 America makes its debut on March 5, 2021.
