Riley Burruss’s relationship with her mom, Kandi Burruss, is all about balance. The young adult opens up to Bravo about her life as the daughter of a successful singer and entrepreneur.

“She’s always telling me what I need to be doing and what I’m not doing enough of,” Riley says of Kandi’s rearing practices. “So I definitely get a lot of that but it’s a balance.”
Kandi Burruss was beyond thrilled about her daughter’s acceptance to New York University (NYU) last year. The Real Housewives of Atlanta (RHOA) star was especially proud because the school was her daughter’s first choice. Riley recently gave an update about her life as a college student during a Speak On It segment with her mom.

“[Parents] don’t understand even that normal [phase] when you go from home life to all the way in college in your own space, they already don’t understand that,” Riley shared. “So then when you have to talk about, ‘Oh, well it’s harder because of Corona. We’re doing everything online.’ And they don’t understand.”
Kandi tried to give understanding during the segment. The RHOA star, however, still strongly advised her daughter to find a better balance between her academic and social life.
“Our relationship is just so cool,” Riley shares with Bravo regarding her relationship with her mom since leaving for college. “We just talk to each other like we’re friends,” the young adult adds. ” And, of course, that doesn’t work for everyone but it just works for us.”
Riley Burruss is Kandi Burruss’s oldest child. Kandi also has two kids, Ace Wells and Blaze, with her husband, Todd Tucker. The Tuckers parent four kids in all. You can catch Kandi and her family every week on the Real Housewives of Atlanta.
