Everyone has an origins story, and in this one, viewers will get the opportunity to learn how Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson came to be.
The Rock posted on Instagram, “Ladies and gents, here’s your first look at @nbcyoungrock. I really wish my dad was around to see this one. Maaaaan he would’ve been proud. And yes, I was clearly kicking puberty’s ass at 15yrs old and becoming a tequila tycoon by the time I was 10. I can’t wait to make you and your families laugh a little and share some life lessons I’ve learned along the way.”
The show will focus on different stages of “The Rock’s” life as he detailed in another recent post.
“From growing up in the wild (and cutthroat) world of pro wrestling in the early 80s to being accused of being a high school undercover cop at 15yrs old because I was already 6’4 220lbs with a FULL Magnum PI mustache and driving my own car.”
Starring as “Young Rock” is Adrain Groulx.
Ten-year-old Groulx, according to IMDb, known for Young Rock, Kids’ CBC, and The Christmas Cure.
“This kid @adriangroulx is our anchor and my hero. He’s got the hardest job of ‘em of all playing “little Dewey” – yes, unfortunately that was the nickname my God parents gave me after the weather – as in dewdrops,” Johnson posted on Instagram, singing Groulx’s praises. “Jesus. At 10yrs old, I was rambunctious as all hell, was already girl crazy and loved pro wrestling — especially the part when wrestlers would bleed. This kid, Adrian is my hero because I look back at this time in my life so fondly and how I viewed the world thru my 10yr old eyes.”
We cannot wait to see this new comedy come to the small screen. Mark your calendars because Young Rock hits the airwaves on February 16th on NBC.
