FOURTEEN-YEAR-OLD BECOMES YOUNGEST RESTAURANT OWNER IN GEORGIA

It all started with a stroll through Times Square and a hot dog cart. With the idea of reinventing the sensational meal back home, at the time, nine-year-old Mason Wright returned to Georgia with a dream that would make him a part of restaurant history.

“I knew I could take the business concept and improve it,” said Wright, who is now 14-years old, in an interview with CBS News.

Mason is the owner of Mason’s Super Dogs, a hot dog restaurant in Stonecrest, GA. Having opened his doors in October, Wright made history becoming the youngest restaurant owner in the state.

Wright transformed the traditional New York sidewalk hot dog vendor cart into a 200-square-foot restaurant. Mason’s Super Dogs serves over 400 customized hot dogs and vegan dogs with fresh toppings for every one daily. Wright’s hot dogs are so good that PETA recognized the vegan dogs as some of the best in the country.

“I’m usually doing most of the work but we’re having fun doing it,” Wright said in an interview with CBS News. “My customers are really friendly and nice. The reviews online are great but the hardest part of running the business is being patient and waiting for customers to stop by. When they do, I get a really big smile on my face.”

Wright’s daily routine, from Tuesday-Sunday, is pretty strenuous for a 14-year-old. He gets to work around 7 a.m. and then homeschools for about three hours. Afterwards, he spends about one hour setting up the kitchen before customers arrive at 11. The restaurant closes at 6 p.m.

“Business has been great because the community has come out, shown how supportive they are, buying multiple hot dogs at a time and being really patient with us as we operate the restaurant,” Wright said in his interview.

After high school, Wright plans to attend Morehouse, where in 2018, he had a hot dog cart outside of the university’s bookstore. Wright plans on majoring in either business or engineering.

The talented entrepreneur has hopes to expand his business within five years and turn Mason’s Super Dogs into a franchise. “Do what you love so you’ll never work a day in your life,” he said. “Don’t wait to start your business. Just do it.”

We couldn’t agree more! Congratulations, Mason. If you are in Stonecrest, GA., stop by Mason’s Super Dogs and let us know what you think!
