With the eyes of the entire world on the US election, Nickelodeon is making sure that kids get into the mix with Kids’ Vote and Nick News: Kids Pick the President.
“Through Kids Pick the President and the return of Nick News, Nickelodeon continues to inform and educate children on the democratic process and the importance of voting,” said Magalie Laguerre-Wilkinson, VP News Programming, Nickelodeon and executive producer of Nick News in a recent interview with Deadline. “Although our audience is not of voting age, we still have a responsibility to help amplify their voices around the issues that are most important to them in a space they can call their own, so they know that they too can make a difference by playing a role in the electoral process.”
Starting today, kids can cast their vote for America’s next president on KidsPickthePresident.com. After they cast their vote, they can even download an “I Voted” badge just like the adults. The results of the Nickelodeon poll will be announced as a part of the hourlong special Nick News: Kids Pick the President on October 27th at 7 p.m. ET/ 6 p.m. CST.
Keke Palmer herself took to Instagram to drum up excitement and votes for the special. “YO KIDS (this means everybody under 50 😅) join me and my long time family for a fun and important conversation that involves us all. I can’t tell you how much it means to me to host something that’s informing the youth! The youth is the future and they should be apart of democracy so when their time to vote comes, they know how to use their voice most efficiently! Honestly, we all could use a little more information and a little more encouragement. Let’s do this, together! Next Tuesday, 10/27 at 7pm EST on @Nickelodeon – #Vote2020.”
Along with Palmer, viewers can expect to see family psychologst Dr. Jen Harstein, Zoe Jenkins, Mari Copney, among others.
Make sure to tune-in get out and vote.
