Chrissy Teigen is ready to discuss a few things after taking a brief hiatus from social media following the pizzagate scandal. The celebrity mom talks to Marie Claire about her kids with husband John Legend and more!
“I’m barely online anymore, and that was at the request of my therapist,” Chrissy tells the media source. “I didn’t start therapy until quarantine,” the celebrity mom says. “I used to avoid it and make fun of the idea of it, and then I found the right person and it changed my world.”
Change is something that has led to both progress and challenges in Chrissy’s life. It was just a few weeks ago that the model and her husband announced their expectancy of a third child. The news came several weeks after Teigen was implicated in pizzagate conspiracy theories that have taken on new meaning this election year.
“It felt like everyone f*cking hated me,” Chrissy shared with her Instagram fans on Tuesday (September 8). “I couldn’t do anything right, say anything right,” the celebrity mom said. “I couldn’t leave cute comments on my friend’s pages knowing they’d be flooded with pizzagate insanity.”
“My own fan pages wrote [to] me, asking if I still wanted to be talked about even though the comments would be super hurtful. And I know. It’s all so stupid. There is so much worse in the world, but man, aside from the world sucking, my little world sucked too. Making people happy is my entire life. There is nothing else I wanna do.”
The pizzagate scandal taught Chrissy that making everyone happy was not a possibility. Such is the reason why she returned to her social media platforms after taking a brief hiatus.
“Part of me right now knows this is not the right time to go silent,” Chrissy tells Marie Claire of her decision to use her platform for social justice. “It does feel very selfish and weird to say that my mental health is important when there are people being murdered by police and murdered in their own homes.”
“Who gives a f*ck about someone making fun of me when people’s livelihoods are being threatened just for telling their stories? I have Black children, so is it really the right time to not want to step on anyone’s toes?”
Chrissy Teigen and John Legend are using their voices to speak out against injustice in the public sphere all while guiding their kids through this tumultuous time at home.
“Regardless of money or status, they’re always going to have their skin color,” Chrissy shares. “When it comes to them being treated differently because of the color of their skin, I’m going to look to John for a lot of help with that because while they are Asian and white too, their skin color is Black,” the celebrity mom explained. “We just try to talk to them like little adults, saying it in words they’ll understand, making it known that it’s very serious, and letting them ask as many questions as they need.”
