Kimora Lee Simmons and Russell Simmons’ daughter, Aoki Lee Simmons, is officially legal. The teen celebrated her eighteenth birthday in Mexico over the weekend.
“Red Alert! This is your warning … I’m legal baby,” Aoki shared with her Instagram fans. The young adult also uploaded candids from her birthday celebration, which included photos from the fireworks show given in Aoki’s honor. Kimora Lee Simmons and Russell Simmons went to great lengths to make their daughter’s eighteenth birthday special. The celebrity parents even hired a Mariachi band that served as part of the entertainment at the bash.
Both Kimora and Russell, who may or may not have been able to attend his daughter’s party in person, took to social media to commemorate Aoki’s birthday. “Happy 18th birthday to my babygirl @aokileesimmons,” Kimora wrote online. “We all love you so much,” the celebrity mom exclaimed. “Mama is super proud of you! Always and forever!”
Russell Simmons wrote, “You are now 18. You have been ‘grown’ for a few years, but now you are officially the age where ‘legally’ a young lady gains most of the rights of an adult. Yet my baby, as you know ,you are born into a world that needs your service. It’s a world where your equality is still not guaranteed. In fact, as an African American woman, it is still in question in so many ways. My Darling baby, we have talked about this enough and you know that your future is super bright despite the obstacles ahead. You are very aware of your super powers as a woman.”
