On July 19, rapper Kanye West kicked off his 2020 Presidential campaign with a rally in Charleston, South Carolina. During the rally, West launched into a hysterical anti-abortion rant, tearfully revealing that he and his wife, reality mogul Kim Kardashian, were considering an abortion when she was pregnant with their eldest child, 7-year-old North West.

“I remember when my girlfriend [at the time] called me screaming and crying…” recalled West. “Then, she said, ‘I’m pregnant.’ And for one month, and two months and three months, we talked about her not having this child.” However, Kanye said that both he and Kim had a revelation and then decided to have North. “I said, ‘We are going to have this child.’ I know people who are 50 years old who don’t have a child,” said West. “So even if my wife were to divorce me after this speech, she brought North into the world, even when I didn’t want to.”
Kanye West also spoke about his late mother Donda West, who was considering aborting Kanye when she was pregnant with him due to his father, but fortunately for Kanye, she chose not to. “My mom saved my life,” shared West. “My dad wanted to abort me! My mom saved my life! There would have been no Kanye West because my dad was too busy!”
At that point, Kanye West burst into tears, shouting, “I almost killed my daughter!” repeatedly. Kanye and Kim welcomed North on June 15, 2013, and they have three more children, 4-year-old Saint, 2-year-old Chicago, and 1-year-old Psalm West together. Understandably, Kim is reportedly upset with Kanye for his rant and for sharing such a personal family story. “Kim is upset with Kanye for his rants yesterday, especially talking about the possibility of having an abortion and not giving birth to North,” said a source close to the Kardashian family. “She knows this is something North will see when she gets older and that’s heartbreaking.”
