Amirah and Me’arah O’Neal, daughters of NBA Hall of Famer Shaquille “Shaq” O’Neal and his ex-wife Shaunie, recently celebrated their graduations from high school and 8th grade. Despite being under quarantine due to the coronavirus pandemic, the O’Neal girls still had an excellent graduation party.
18-year-old Amirah “Mimi” O’Neal played basketball at Crossroads High School in Santa Monica, California, where she averaged 17.2 points per game and was a two-time All-State selection. As a member of the class of 2020, Amirah will be heading to LSU, following in her big brother Shareef and her father’s footsteps. 14-year-old Me’arah O’Neal, a member of the class of 2024 who also plays basketball, will be heading to high school as she continues her budding basketball career.
The O’Neal house was decorated with purple and gold balloons (LSU’s colors) in celebration of Amirah and Me’arah graduating, and the family made sure to share pictures of the celebration on Instagram. Shaunie O’Neal posted a heartfelt message to both of her daughters on their graduation, writing: “Both of my girls @amirahoneal_ & @mearahoneal_ graduated from high school and 8th grade! I am so proud of both of them! Me’Arah as you embark into this new chapter of your life, always know Mommy will always be in your corner! Mimi c/o 2020 and Me’Arah c/o 2024! #threedowntwotogo🎓🎓🎓 Thank you again for all you well wishes and support! 📹: @rg3.productions.”
Shaunie O’Neal also posted a series of photos of friends and family members who showed up in masks, held up celebratory posters from their cars (due to the coronavirus) and wished the O’Neal daughters congratulations. The caption reads: “There is nothing like family and friends who become family!!! Again thank you to everyone who helped make this day possible! I love and appreciate each one of you!”
Amirah O’Neal posted a picture of herself holding a purple balloon that read “LSU BOUND” and captioned it: “coolest quarantine graduate.” Me’arah O’Neal also posted a picture of her and Amirah in their graduation caps and wrote in the caption: “Guess you can call us graduates… onto the next 🥳! 📸: @koolmac.”
