Duane Martin and Tisha Campbell’s son, Xen Martin, beat the odds and is officially a high school graduate! The celebrity parents took to Instagram earlier this week to celebrate their young scholar’s accomplishment.
“I’m the proudest mommy,” Tisha told her social media fans. “Congrats baby,” the celebrity mom said.
Duane Martin also gave congratulatory remarks to his son. “It seems like yesterday when you were 18-months-old and the professionals told your mom and I (sic) that we should prepare for you not to talk, for you to not be able to tie your own shoes and that you will probably never say, ‘I Love You.'”
Xen Martin was diagnosed with autism before his second birthday. Tisha Campbell admitted during a recent episode of Uncensored that she was initially in denial about her son’s diagnosis. Then, the heartbreak of the situation came as reality settled the dust of the moment.
“Tears were just falling down my face,” the celebrity mom revealed. “I hung up the phone and I walked into the makeup room, which was right next to me. I washed my face and I walked back out. I walked onto the set [of My Wife and Kids] and b-lined for this woman whose child was on the show,” Tisha explained.
“And I said, ‘I just got a call from the doctor and they told me my baby might be autistic.’ And she says, ‘Congratulations. So am I. So is my baby.’ And she says, ‘But, engage.'” Tisha and Duane took that advice and have been engaging ever since.
“Clearly the one thing they didn’t factor in that equation was who your mom and dad were and what we were made of and what we have overcome,” Duane wrote to his son earlier this week. “We didn’t blink. We got right to work. With tremendous Love, tremendous will, and a tremendous belief in God and the Universe you can make the T silent in CAN’T. This win is to be shared with our VILLAGE. So many people showed love and patience with you. More importantly, [they] allowed you to struggle in a loving environment. Thank you all for your love and support.”

Xen has plans to attend Moorpark College and study Zoology. He is Tisha Campbell and Duane Martin’s oldest son. Stay tuned for more celebrity family news!
