Charlotte Nebres made history when she became the first back ballerina cast as Marie in the New York City Ballet’s annual production of The Nutcracker, following in the footsteps of her idol, Misty Copeland.
When asked by the New York Times how she felt about this history-making moment, Charlotte told them that, “It’s pretty amazing to be not only representing S.A.B., [School of American Ballet], but also representing all of our cultures. There might be a little boy or girl in the audience seeing that and saying, ‘Hey, I can do that too.’”
