Tamera Mowry experienced postpartum depression after the births of both her children. The Real co-host revealed her past struggles during a Q&A session on The Housley Life with her husband, Adam Housely, last week.
“I dealt with depression,” Tamera said. “When I was 19-years-old, I had this fear of having postpartum depression. And the reality is [that] I did.”
Tamera did not initially think that she was experiencing postpartum depression after giving birth to her son. “I thought I had baby blues with Aden,” she admitted. “Having postpartum the second time around with Ariah, I realized it was postpartum depression,” she explained.
It is not uncommon for women to go through a period of depression after giving birth to a child. The situation often becomes an issue because mothers do not get the support they need to get through the dark season.
“That’s one of the things I feel like women may confuse because postpartum depression is actually on a spectrum,” Tamera said during her and Adam’s Q&A session. “And when you think of postpartum, initially, you think of women who want to do harm to their children,” she continued. “I knew I wasn’t having those thoughts. But, yes, I did experience postpartum depression with both of my children.”
Tamera Mowry presented the notion of wanting more kids during a segment on The Real several months ago. The celebrity mom told her co-hosts that she was thinking of having one more before celebrating her forty-second birthday. Tamera has since changed her mind about more kids.
“I have always wanted to be a mom,” the celebrity mom said during her Q&A session on The Housley Life. “I wanted to have four kids, but the reality of parenting [and] having kids a little bit later, we are done at two,” Tamera said.
Tamera Mowry and Adam Housley’s daughter, Ariah Housley, celebrates her fifth birthday in July. The couple’s son, Aden, turns 8-years-old in November. Stay tuned for more celebrity family news!
