Ayesha Curry, a New York Times best-selling author, chef and restaurateur, and wife of NBA star Steph Curry, unveiled her new magazine on April 21. Titled Sweet July, family, gratitude and food are the heart of Ayesha Curry’s new lifestyle magazine.
“I’m so nervous and excited about it,” said Ayesha. “This first issue is all about presence and gratitude, which I think is so important, not only in life, but especially right now. I just hope that people find a sense of peace from it.”
Sweet July starts off with the “Connected” column, where Ayesha has an emotional conversation with her husband, three-time NBA champion Steph Curry of the Golden State Warriors. It also features the “Ask Mom Anything” column, where Ayesha takes questions from her daughters; 7-year-old Riley and 4-year-old Ryan Curry. “Everyone was so excited to contribute,” said Ayesha. “It’s probably the most excited they’ve been to get involved.”
In addition, the first issue of Sweet July covers topics such as self-care tips, success stories, dinner table conversation starters, and since the magazine’s theme is food, it contains 22 recipes. “It’s like getting a mini cookbook,” said Ayesha. She also spoke about how she is happy to represent young African-American women in print with her magazine. “Representation matters. It was so exciting to know that as my girls grow up, they can see themselves within the pages,” said Ayesha. “And for people in the same boat as me, or just working women everywhere, to have that representation in an easy going way I think is important.”
Ayesha Curry first unveiled Sweet July on April 1, revealing that she named it after her favorite month; Ayesha married Steph Curry and had each of their three children, Riley, Ryan and 1-year-old son Canon Curry, in July. Published under the Meredith Corporation, Sweet July is available now for $9.99.
