Yesterday marked the one year anniversary of Nipsey Hussle’s death. Some say that the 33-year-old’s life was cut short, while others believe that Hussle accomplished everything he was meant to do during his lifetime. The rapper certainly made a permanent imprint in the lives of his son, Kross Asghedom, and daughter, Emani Asghedom. Here are five of the most heartwarming moments of Nipsey Hussle with his kids.
1. Performing on stage with his daughter
Nipsey brought his daughter onstage during the Victory Lap celebration in 2018. Emani helped her dad deliver a live performance of ‘Last Time That I Checc’d.’
It took Emani a few minutes to warm up to the stage. The youngster was completely dialed in after receiving a loving push from her dad to spit a few rhymes from the song.
2. Taking his daughter to the Grammys
It was Nipsey’s night to bask in the success of his debut album. The celebrity father, however, chose to share the spotlight with his baby girl and girlfriend, Lauren London. Emani took several pictures with her father while on the red carpet. She also stood next to her dad as he conducted red carpet interviews.
3. Speaking on fatherhood
Nipsey Hussle was a loving father who wanted to instill the importance of confidence, leadership, and integrity. Such is the reason why the rapper would drill his daughter about the concepts every morning when dropping her off for school.
“When I drop my daughter off every day, I drill her,” Nip said during a conversation about fatherhood with NBA player Steph Curry. “When I take her to school, we have a little convo before she gets out of the car,” the ‘Higher rapper explained.
“She gets sick of it, but I pound it in her head,” Hussle said. “[I ask questions like], ‘What is integrity?’ [She says], ‘Integrity is doing the right thing when nobody’s looking.’ Alright. [I also ask her], ‘Are you a leader or a follower?’ [She says], ‘I’m a leader.’ [I ask], ‘What’s the difference?’ [She says], ‘I think for myself.’ Alright.”
“[I ask], ‘Do you have confidence.’ [She says], ‘Yes.’ [I ask], ‘What’s confidence?’ [She says], ‘Believing in myself.’ That’s our script every morning. It seems basic but I want her to get older and be able to look back on the things that I thought was (sic) important.”
4. Having a heartwarming moment with Lauren and their son
Sometimes a picture is all that is needed to explain what cannot be put into words. The above candid shows why Lauren London loved Nipsey Hussle so much.
5. Having one-on-one time with his son
In her tribute to Nipsey Hussle on Tuesday (March 31), Lauren London shared the notion of the late rapper being present in spirit. Kross will always have the above moment to cherish.
