Some believe that only those who show signs of the common cold or influenza are potentially at risk of testing positive for COVID-19. Idris Elba, however, told his fans that he did not show any signs of the virus before undergoing lab tests.

“I didn’t have any symptoms,” Elba said. “I got tested because I realized I was exposed to someone who had also tested positive. [When] I found out last Friday that they tested positive, I quarantined myself and got tested immediately and got the results back today.”

Idris ended his address by encouraging his fans to take the pandemic seriously. “Now is the time to really think about social distancing, [and] washing your hands,” the actor said. “Beyond that, there are people out there who aren’t showing symptoms and that can easily spread it. So now is a real time to be really vigilant about washing your hands and keeping your distance.”
