Many fans are wondering what Zaya Wade’s mom, Siohvaughn Funches, thinks about her child identifying as a girl. The celebrity mom hasn’t said much about the matter mainly because of a gag order.

Dwyane Wade and Siohvaughn Funches finalized their divorce in 2010. The former couple established certain rules as part of their marriage dissolution, which included a court order that prohibits Siohvaughn from discussing Dwyane in any social media posts. Funches can, however, talk about their children, Zaire and Zaya, as much as she wants.

Some fans are confused as to where Siohvaughn Funches stands on Zaya’s transformation. Funches does, after all, identify as a Christian on her podcast, The One Thing That’s Needful.

“So a woman of the so-called cloth supports her transgender son,” one fan scrutinized. Another of Siohvaughn’s social media followers wrote, “I pray you are not okay with them changing your son [by] turning him into a girl and now calling him a ‘she.’ [I’m] NOT going to call your son anything negative but he is a BOY! That’s not of God what they are doing to him.”

Some have criticized Siohvaughn Funches for remaining silent about Zaya identifying as a girl without understanding the gag order. Still, there were those supporters who defended Siohvaughn. “Why do people feel the need to give their opinion,” one fan asked. “She did not ask anyone their opinion of the pronoun he/ she chose to go by.”
