Lil Wayne’s kids were the inspiration behind his decision to be a contestant on The Masked Singer The GRAMMY award-winning artist was revealed as the Robot during the season three premiere of the hit series.
“My kids watch the show,” Wayne told Nick Cannon after the big reveal. “I know they’re gonna like the Robot costume,” the celebrity father said. “So it’s Daddy.”
The season three premiere of The Masked Singer came with a bang as the contestants brought their A-game to the stage. Lil Wayne’s performance certainly got the crowd going with his performance of ‘Are You Gonna Go My Way’ by Lenny Kravitz. None of the judges were able to guess who was behind the costume. Now, how is that for an amazing delivery?
“I’ve done five songs with him,” Robin Thicke said after predicting that the Robot was another celebrity. “This is the most shocked I’ve ever been on this show,” the recording artist said.
Fans can expect a lot of surprises and excitement during this season of The Masked Singer. “We changed the format up to make three mini-seasons,” Izzie Pick-Ibarra, showrunner for the series, said during a recent interview with Billboard. “So we have six singers in each mini-season: groups A, B, and C.”
“We start with six in a group and they get whittled down to three. Then we go to the next group and the next and then we bring all the singers together so you have nine champions from the groups and they’ll compete against one another to the end.”
“It helps the viewers when we have a cast as large as ours,” Pick-Ibarra further explained. “It’s hard to track people’s stories and personalities if you’re flip-flopping between 18 people from the get-go. It’s a way to let viewers know them in smaller groups, and by the time they come together, they have a handle on who each are over 19 episodes.”
