Dwyane Wade’s son, Zaire Wade, is legal! The up-and-coming basketball star celebrates his 18th birthday today.
Dwyane Wade took to his Instagram page to celebrate his oldest son’s special day. “The First Born turns 18,” Dwyane wrote online. “February, 4th, 2002, I remember feeling every emotion known to man,” the celebrity father continued.
“I didn’t know if I could be the father you needed at the age of 20 but I did know I would do any and everything in my power to make sure your life would be different. Thanks for never holding me to perfection and allowing me to make mistakes. 18 is only the beginning of this amazing life that God has in store for you.”
Zaire Wade changed everything about Dwyane Wade and Siohvaughn Funches’ relationship. The high school sweethearts settled into their lives as parents. Dwyane even went on to write a book about fatherhood, called A Father First: How My Life Became Bigger Than Basketball, that has encouraged many dads to take parenthood by the horns.

Dwyane Wade commented on Zaire’s athletic abilities during a 2017 interview. “My son, he’s talented,” Wade said. “I don’t know how tough he is,” the celebrity father admitted. “I don’t know how athletic he will become,” Dwyane added. “I don’t know how tall he’ll be. I just know the kid was blessed with being talented. And we’ll see over the next few years.”
