Emmitt Smith and his family were all about charity at their bike event this past weekend. The Smiths held the fourth annual Emmitt Smith Gran Fondo presented by Toyota bike ride at South Fork Ranch in Parker, Texas. Funds from the charity event went to benefit Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities.
According to the Emmitt Smith Gran Fondo website,
“Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities supports children in North Texas through the TEAM 22 mentorship program, an annual back to school program, and an annual grants and scholarship process.”
To date, the charity has supplied more than 150,000 children with everything from new school uniforms to nutritional meals. Pat & Emmitt Smith Charities has even given 29 students scholarships to college. What an impact!
Emmitt Smith delved into his passion for giving back during a 2017 interview. “At the end of the day, what else are we here for,” Emmitt asked. “The way we see it, with the resources we have, the things we’re doing are not necessarily for us. We’ve benefited because it does feel good doing it. But yet we know that ‘to whom much is given, much is required.’ That’s just who we are.”
