Matt Barnes wants the child support that he pays his ex-wife Gloria Govan for their twin sons, Carter and Isaiah, reduced to less than 15 percent of what he pays now. Derrick Fisher, according to court documents, has a lot to do with Matt’s request.
According to The Blast,
“Former NBA star Matt Barnes wants to pay a lot less in child support to his ex-wife, Gloria Govan, in part because he believes her fiancé, Derek Fisher, is paying the lion’s share of her expenses. … Barnes’ attorneys claim Govan’s last income and expense declaration stated she was not employed but received $1,250 in monthly income. Even more confusing, she lists $19,338 in monthly expenses.”
Matt Barnes believes that Gloria’s boyfriend Derrick Fisher is paying for most, if not all, of his ex-wife’s expenses. Barnes, therefore, allegedly claims that he should not have to pay Gloria $7,500 per month in child support but rather should only be on the hook for about $1,018.
Gloria Govan, of course, isn’t taking Matt’s newest request to have his child support payments reduced. Matt, after all, successfully had the payments reduced from $20,000 per month to $7,500 per month last December. Gloria claims in her legal documents that Matt has not kept up with child support payments even after having the schedule adjusted to favor him financially.
Thus, Govan says that her ex-husband owes her upwards of $42,000 in back child support. A reported $20,000 of that amount is from nonpayment when Matt was on the hook for $20,000 per month. The remaining $22,000 is from Matt’s failure to make full payments every month after having the amount lowered last December and interest on the outstanding amount.
Gloria Govan and Matt Barnes were married for three years before finalizing their divorce in 2016. Stay tuned for more celebrity family news!
