Lauren London and Samantha Smith, Nipsey Hussle’s sister, gave the late rapper moving tributes in honor of Father’s Day this past weekend. The two women paid homage to Nipsey because of his compassion and passion about fatherhood.
“One of the reasons I fell in Love with You … Your Fatherhood,” Lauren London wrote online. “Today we celebrate You. Love you, Ermias.” The celebrity mom also uploaded a picture of Nipsey checking up on his son, Kross Asghedom, who appeared tired in the candid.
Samantha Smith also wrote a touching tribute to the ‘Higher’ rapper. “A listener. A leader. A friend. A teacher. A provider. A voice of reason. A protector. A Father. We celebrate you and lift you high with Love and Respect always Ermias,” Smith shared.
Nipsey Hussle’s final song called ‘Higher, which was made in collaboration with DJ Khaled and John Legend, talks about elevating one’s mind to gain a different perspective on life. The rapper, in particular, credits his kids, Emani and Kross, with his realization of the divine self in the song.
“The very title of the song reminds us that vibrating on a ‘Higher’ level was the essence of Nipsey’s soul,” DJ Khaled said of the song that manages to capture the essence of what Nipsey Hussle was about. “[Nipsey] was telling a lot of his story, his family’s story,” John Legend said of the collaboration. “Little did we know that three days after we filmed the video his life would be taken so quickly.”
Nipsey Hussle was murdered outside of his clothing store, Marathon Clothing, on March 1, 2019. ‘Higher’ is featured on DJ Khaled’s latest album, Father Of Asahd. Khaled ensured that Emani and Kross receive all proceeds from the hit single. Stay tuned for more celebrity family news!
