Happy Birthday to Beyonce & Jay-Z’ s twins Rumi and Sir Carter, who turn two years old today!
The Carter twins were born at 5.13am on June 13, 2017 at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles with Rumi arriving first and little Sir following shortly after.
Two months after welcoming the twins, Jay-Z explained the meaning behind their unique names. “Rumi is our favorite poet, so it was for our daughter,” the rapper explained in an interview.
The proud papa is referring to Jalal ad-Din Muhammad Rumi, a 13th-century Persian poet. “Sir was like, man, come out the gate. He carries himself like that. He just came out, like, Sir,” the father of three said.
