Serena Williams and her daughter, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr., are matching on the court. The tennis star recently shared pictures of herself and her daughter behind-the-scenes at the French Open.
Alexis Olympia rocked an outfit that matched her mom’s sportswear in all of the shots. “Matching with my bestie @olympiaohanian thanks @nikecourt and @virgilabloh,” Serena said.
Williams has been in the media for more reasons than one as of late. The tennis star recently gained a spot on the list of America’s Richest Self-Made Women by Forbes. Serena’s entry is the first time that an athlete has achieved such an accomplishment.
Much of Serena’s $225 million net worth comes from her work outside of tennis. The celebrity mom has invested in several startups owned by women or people of color and continues to see returns on her efforts to lift others up.
“What better way to preach that message,” Serena asked when questioned about the motivation behind her meticulous investments. “I want to be a part of it,” the star said of investing in startups. “I want to be in the infrastructure. I want to be the brand, instead of just being the face.”
Much of what Serena Williams knows about venture capital comes from her husband, Alexis Ohanian Sr. The business mogul owns part of Reddit and continues to make strides to support aspiring entrepreneurs.
“I’ve been really leaning on Alexis,” Serena told Forbes. “I’d like to call us a more modern business family,” the tennis star said.
