Just call it a Fresh Prince of Bel-Air reunion! Will Smith was joined by Tatyana Ali and Alfonso Ribeiro on the red carpet of the Aladdin world premiere in Hollywood on Wednesday (May 21). The screening was held at El Capitan Theatre and the former cast members of Fresh Prince were giving nostalgic vibes for days.
Tatyana cradled her protruding stomach while taking pictures on the red carpet. The celebrity mom is expecting her second child with her husband, Dr. Vaughn Rasberry. Alfonso Ribeiro also attended the Aladdin premiere at El Capitan Theatre with his kids.
The celebrity father held his oldest son Alfonso Lincoln’s hand while on the red carpet. The Ribeiro men were dressed in casual attire and appeared pretty excited about the premiere.
Will Smith hopes to bring a bit of nostalgia to the big screen when the remake of Aladdin comes to theaters this Summer. The celebrity father recently described his method of infusing remnants of Fresh Prince in with his character of “Genie” in Aladdin to make the part his own.
“That was the thing I latched onto with Robin Williams,” Will said of the late Robin Williams’ pure genius in the 1992 cartoon film. “What made the Genie special is that even though he was in a period piece, the Genie had been forward and backwards (sic) in time,” Smith explained.
“Because the Genie knew all things from all time, the references and the way that he spoke and the energy that he brought to the character was of a specific era of Robin Williams. I wanted to do that and I really picked that period, the 1990 to 1996 period of what people most remember of the arc that I had created and tried to build a character that lived in that time and space. So it felt nostalgic but also new.”
