Serena Williams cannot get enough of her baby, Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr. The celebrity mom recently told attendees at the Slack conference that she is “totally obsessed” with her daughter.
“I’ve always wanted to have a kid but just never thought about the impact that a child would have on my life,” Serena shared. “I manage my time different[ly] so I can spend as much time with my daughter as I can. I want to be able to say, ‘I remember that moment and I remember that memory,’ and I never want to regret missing times out with each other.”
Serena Williams has not missed many milestones in Alexis Olympia’s life. The celebrity mom, however, did not get to see her daughter take her first steps last year due to Serena having to attend a training session for the 2018 Wimbledon Championships in London.
“I was sad that I missed her first step and that broke my heart,” Williams told the Slack crowd. “I know a lot of parents that happens to, but for me, definitely hands down, it is that.”
Serena has been present for many other monumental moments in Alexis Olympia’s life, which included a backyard party that commemorated the little one’s first birthday. Williams and her husband, Alexis Ohanian Sr., do not officially celebrate birthdays due to religious preferences. The celebrity parents did, however, decide to have a party in their daughter’s honor months after Alexis Olympia became a one-year-old.
In addition to enjoying her family, Serena Williams is taking the time to get into venture capital. The tennis champion recently established Serena Ventures, which is a firm focused on supporting women, people of color, and other underrepresented groups in the technology sphere and business world at large.
“I feel like the more diversity we have in the area [of technology and business] and the more ideas that we can bring, we can really just make it better,” Williams shared with Slack conference attendees. “The world does not look like one person. The world is a plethora of people. Why would you want your business and company to look the same way,” she asked.
