Sterling Shepard had the support of his wife, Chanel Iman, and daughter, Cali Clay Shepard, as he signed a 4-year contract extension with the New York Giants this past weekend. The new deal means that Sterling, who has one more year left on his current contract, has a spot on the team as a wide receiver for the next five years.

My sincere thanks to the Giants owners, management and coaching staff who believed in me enough to give me another four years with the franchise. I want to pass along my gratitude to teammates who have walked with me on this spectacular journey. Your brotherhood has made every step a step forward for me. My family and I look forward to another five years!
“I’m just excited,” the NFL player said after signing the agreement. “An opportunity to be in such a great place for another five years, it’s a blessing. I’m looking forward to this opportunity. I’m not going to put so much weight on my shoulders. I’m just going to attack every day like I have been.”
Sterling took on his post-signing interview with the help of his daughter. Cali Clay rested in her father’s arms during the Q&A session until she could no longer take it. The 8-month-old began to cry before Sterling handed her off to a family friend who was waiting behind-the-scenes.
“We have no shortage of talent,” Sterling said of the Giants roster going into the new season. “Those guys are ballers and they can get the job done,” he added. “When they’re put in that position, they’re always going to execute. I have all the trust in those guys. I feel we’re going to pick up right where we left off. The last five games were the best games we played in the season. We just have to fine-tune some little things. Once we do that, we’ll be fine.”
Will the New York Giants make it to the Super Bowl next year? We will have to keep our eyes and ears open to find out! Sterling Shepard and Chanel Iman’s daughter celebrates her first birthday in August.
