La La Anthony is one proud mama! The television personality recently shared pictures and video footage of her son, Kiyan Anthony, who is well on his way to following in his father Carmelo Anthony’s footsteps in terms of sports.
“So proud of my son and his @blackopscadets team this weekend at the Blue Magic City tournament in Alabama,” La La shared online a few days ago. “Kiyan works so hard and continues to push himself,” the celebrity mom exclaimed. “As long as he wants it, I’m there every step of the way,” La La concluded.
Kiyan Anthony celebrated his twelfth birthday earlier this month. The tween received nothing but love from his mom and dad who could not believe how much their son had grown over the years.
“Kiyan is almost a teenager,” La La told her Instagram fans. “Where has the time gone,” the celebrity mom asked. “I never knew a love like this existed until you came into my life. I thank GOD for you every single day. My best friend, my son, and forever mommy’s baby. Happy Birthday, Kiyan!”
Carmelo Anthony also wished his son well on Kiyan’s birthday. “My SUN… Your eyes give me the will to fight back, even when everything goes off-track,” the celebrity father wrote to his son. “Your hugs give me a reason to smile, even when problems pile. Your love is what keeps me going, it is what keeps my heart beating. Happy Born Day.”
La La and Carmelo Anthony have certainly had their ups and downs as a couple. It was just a few months ago that the celebrity couple was on the brink of divorce. La La recently told media that her drive to establish herself outside of the “Basketball Wife” title helped complicate things at home.
“For many years, I personally fought against the term basketball wife,” La La shared. “I was so focused on having my own and not being known as someone married to a basketball player,” she added. “And to be honest with you, my marriage really suffered because of that.”
Now, La La is more focused on supporting her husband and keeping the family unit intact. “I’m so proud to uplift my husband and not feel as though I’m sacrificing myself by doing so,” Mrs. Anthony said. “I’m so sorry I had those judgments about basketball wives,” La La concluded.
