Despite the trials and tribulations of slavery, racism, and centuries of brutalizing violence and degradation, thousands of African-Americans pushed through and became a source of pride and fortitude for generations to come. Many of us have our favorite icons among Black History legends that we identify with. Who are some of yours?

“Maya Angelou is one of the many Black History icons who has inspired my journey throughout my career. From her motivating me to pursue the things I love doing and doing them so well that people can’t help but to watch or driving me to rise even though it may not be easy. Her mission to cut beyond racial, economic, and educational boundaries is still to this day much appreciated by me and many others.”
