Keys’ latest single addresses the #MeToo movement, which is meant to encourage women to speak out about sexual assault. The single takes a different approach to the conversation by shedding a positive light on the men who treat women as queens instead of focusing on men who violate women.

Alicia Keys discussed her passion for activism during a 2017 interview with Harper’s Bazaar. “So much of what I’m learning is that there is so much to unlearn,” she shared. “There’s so much we were taught or that we see throughout our lives and we take them on and we decide that’s what makes us feel good—that’s what constitutes the definition of beauty. But it’s all very phony and very fake.”

Keys further explained, “Each person has their own truth and we all get to find out what that is for ourselves. Because I’m just a woman who’s also finding her own truth, I’ve just been expressing that the best I can.”

Genesis and Egypt are Alicia Keys’ sons with her husband, Swizz Beatz. Stay tuned for more celebrity mom news!
