SERENA WILLIAMS HEADS TO THE PARK WITH ALEXIS OLYMPIA AND QAI QAI

"Sandbox Workouts"

Serena Williams knows a few things about perseverance and recovering after disappointment. It was just the other weekend that the 23-time Grand Slam winner lost the final U.S. Open competition against rising star, Naomi Osaka. The 20-year-old athlete made history as the first tennis player from Japan to grab the title. Unfortunately, Naomi’s historic win was overshadowed by controversy after Serena had a bit of a meltdown that led to her losing an entire game by penalization.

Umpire Carlos Ramos initially gave Serena a warning for receiving coaching during the match after catching the tennis star’s coach, Patrick Mouratoglou, signaling Williams from the stands. Serena initially told Ramos that she did not receive coaching in a calm tone. It was after the crowd reacted to the code violation with jeers that Serena began pressuring Ramos to make an additional announcement that cleared her of any allegations of cheating. Still, there was the issue of Patrick Mouratoglou admitting to trying to give Serena signals during the match.
