Monica and husband Shannon Brown’s daughter will celebrate her fifth birthday next week. The little one has plans to commemorate her special day all month long. In many respects, this past weekend’s concert was part of Laiyah’s birthday festivities. “My baby thoroughly enjoyed herself,” Monica told her Instagram fans. “It was the start of her month-long celebration,” the star mom added.

Monica delved into her life as a mom during a recent guest blog post for Living Civil. “Each day as a Mother requires something different,” Monica explained. “I’ve realized that no matter the journey, my children are the joy,” she gushed. “Often times the desires of my heart come through them and wherever doubt lived inside of me, they replaced with a confidence that has led me to great things.”
Great things in life make for an awesome legacy, which is what Monica hopes to leave for her children. “When I’m no longer here I pray that my love for Rodney, Romelo, and Laiyah lives so strongly in them that no one notices I’ve left,” Monica revealed in her Living Civil blog note. “Everything I am, I will give to them,” she concluded.
