If the name Mari Copney isn’t familiar, then you may know this tiny powerhouse by another name—Little Miss Flit. Copney became a true community activist when she rallied to provide her community of Flint, MI with 80,000 bottles of water to help supplement the drinking crisis in her city. Well, the 11-year-old superhero didn’t stop there as she took up her next crusade by fundraising to hopefully buy and fill 10,000 backpacks, for the 2018 school year, with school supplies.
Now in her third year of involvement with the nonprofit Pack Your Back, Copney is making sure that Flint’s kids start the school year off right; however, she isn’t stopping there. Additionally, the tiny pre-teen is organizing fun activities for students, such as movie screenings, parties, and toy giveaways, to make sure that they not only have what they need to get back to school but that they have fun before it is time to buckle down for a new school year.

To accomplish her goal, Copney has been hard at work filling backpacks and distributing them at events. Each backpack costs $4 to fill, Copney commented on her GoFundMe page. She stated that if the community would help her reach a goal of $75K, she would take care of the rest! Any funds left over will be used for Fling children’s programming.
