The Anthonys are in South Africa for charity. The celebrity family, via their foundation, surprised the kids of Soweto with a state-of-the-art outdoor basketball court. La La Anthony took to Instagram to celebrate her child’s father for his efforts.
“Today I watched @carmeloanthony donate his 23rd basketball court that he rebuilt and refurbished in a township in Soweto, South Africa,” La La told her social media fans. “This is a moment I will never forget,” she continued. “To see the smiles on these kids faces and to know we are leaving them with a place to have fun and find hope for a better future means the world to me.”
The new court was the perfect addition to the 2018 Africa Game showing, which featured the Basketball Without Borders Africa event on Saturday. The event was held at the Time Square Sun Arena in Pretoria, South Africa. La La and Carmelo Anthony donated the court in Soweto prior to the Time Square game.
“We’ll be walking through Soweto [this week] and interacting with locals,” Carmelo said before his basketball court unveiling. “I’m really excited to meet everyone, to see what is happening in the community, and to be a part of what I am creating while I am here in Johannesburg,” he added.
La La and Carmelo Anthony’s son, Kiyan, joined his parents on the trip and was an active part of the foundation’s court donation. Stay tuned for more charity family news. Learn more about the Carmelo Anthony Foundation here!
