Thandie Newton and the family came out in full force, with the exception of one family member, for the world premiere of Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again on Monday (July 16). The actress had her daughters, Nico and Ripley, with her while supporting her husband, Ol Parker, in his latest project. Thandie’s son, Booker, was not present at the screening.
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again is the latest installment in the Mamma Mia! franchise. This film focuses on Sophie who learns about her mother’s past while pregnant. Perhaps the most significant element of the film is Sophie’s return to the spot where her mom learned of her expectancy twenty years ago. Of course, there is also Ruby Sheridan (Cher) who barely accepts her role as a grandmother. This film promises to be hilarious!
Thandie Newton can definitely relate to the element of family bonds found in the latest installment of Mamma Mia!. The actress gave one of the best perspectives on motherhood we have heard in a while during an interview several years ago.
“Respect your children,” Thandie advised. “Treat them like the person you most admire on earth. I really mean that as a way of life. If you treat your children with respect then they will learn to respect themselves. I can’t think of a better thing to let your kid out into the world with than self-respect. How your child feels about him or herself will dictate how they allow themselves to be treated by other people. I want my [children] to feel empowered. That’s the most important thing.”
Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again makes its public debut on Friday, July 20, 2018.
