First, Jhene Aiko and Namiko Browner tried nine things they’ve never done before. Now, the mother-daughter duo is taking on the wonderful world of skating. Jhene and Namiko rang in Summer Solstice by enjoying a trip to World On Wheels earlier this week. You have to see the photos to appreciate the fun that they had.

1. Jhene and Namiko spreading peace and joy

Jhene told Complex magazine in 2012 that her daughter gave her the passion she needed to go further in the music industry. “She gave me the focus, the drive, and the urgency to get something done,” Aiko said. “I have always been about getting work done but with a child, something needs to happen and she just put more passion as far as what I wanted to do with my music, what I wanted to sing about and my message.”

2. Mama leading the way

“I would describe myself as a mother, lover, writer, and singer, but always a mother first,” Jhene said during an interview with CR Fashion Book last year. “I never intended to have a baby so young, but as soon as I found out I was pregnant, I was overwhelmed with a new focus and drive. I knew I didn’t want a regular job, I wanted to provide a life for me and my daughter that was beyond myself.”

3. Everything is love

Would you believe that Jhene Aiko worked at a vegan cafe to support her daughter once upon a time? “At one point, I was like, ‘I can only do one,'” she told Billboard in reference to working a mainstream job while trying to maintain her status as an artist. “It was very hard to do both,” she explained. “Very stressful. I was like, ‘You know what? I’m just gonna go with it; quit this job and just go out on a whim and see if this music can be what supports us, ya know. And it turned out good.”
