Bol Bol is paving a path for himself that is filled with support from some of Hollywood’s favorite entertainers. The son of Manute Bol tells SLAM about his life as a rising athlete.
“Growing up seeing how people saw my dad made me realize how great of a person he was,” the young star says. “The best advice my dad gave me was [to] never give up and always have a strong heart.”
A strong heart is necessary for Bol’s line of work where results from hard work and dedication are not always immediately recognized. “Some of the bad comments I look back to is like, You’re good ’cause you’re tall, or, People only know about you because your dad played in the NBA,” Bol says of his critics online. “The lazy comments—stuff like that. That motivates me,” he reveals.
Fuel has gone a long way in giving Bol the stamina he needs to make a mark in basketball. The teen is presently ranked among the top three recruits in the Class of 2018. Bol has quite notable agility given his height.
