It was just a few weeks ago that Sterling K. Brown made history as the first African-American male actor to receive an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series for his work in This Is Us. The actor promised his sons that he would take them to school the next day before moving us to tears with his words of gratitude for the show’s creator.
“Dan Fogelman, you wrote a role for a black man that could only be played by a black man,” Sterling said during his acceptance speech. “What I appreciate so much about this thing is that I’m being seen for who I am, and being appreciated for who I am. And it makes it that much more difficult to dismiss me or dismiss anyone who looks like me.”
Sterling K. Brown is the proud father of two kids.
