Toya Wright is teaming up with her daughter, Reginae Carter, for the release of her new book, You Just Don’t Get It. The mother-daughter team shared another promo video on Instagram for their upcoming book on Monday.
Reginae and Toya addressed the notion of communication and technology in their video ad. The family therapist tried to hold a conversation with Reginae after the young adult’s mom called her out for always being on her phone. Reginae’s interaction with the therapist didn’t go so well as she was so engrossed with her smartphone that she missed the question posed.
Toya wasn’t too much better in the clip as she attempted to get a bit of work done while the therapist was seemingly conversing with her daughter. “Are we so connected that we are becoming disconnected,” Toya asked in the caption of her promo clip. “You just don’t get it,” she exclaimed.
You Just Don’t Get It is by no means supposed to be a parenting guide. The book, rather, was written by Reginae and Toya to give insight into their relationship. According to Toya, “[You Just Don’t Get It] invites you to see how I’ve dealt with obstacles when raising a daughter while trying to figure out how to break a cycle of teen pregnancy and missed opportunities.” Readers will get to hear Reginae’s side of things as well, which should be quite interesting.
