Attending parent-teacher conference meetings this school year was a tad difficult for Yandy Smith-Harris who had to go it alone in the absence of her husband, Mendeecees Harris. The celebrity mom shared her experience of meeting Omere’s teachers as a single mom this year.
“Walking into parent teachers night vs. walking out,” Yandy shared online. “Wasn’t easy sitting there alone,” she explained. “The mental torment of being there alone almost prohibited me from attending. But we went in happy and left happy. You were missed, daddy.”
Mendeecees is currently serving an eight-year sentence in prison for drug trafficking offenses that he committed in his younger years. The celebrity father had hoped that new guidelines on federal charges would be the gateway that reduced his sentence from eight to five years. A judge, however, denied Mendeecees’ request earlier this week.
Many hearts broke as Mendeecees bid a temporary farewell to his kids during an episode of Love & Hip Hop in 2015. The rapper gave kisses to his sons, Omere and Mendeecees Jr., and daughter, Skylar. The rapper later shared a conversation with his wife while incarcerated.
Mendeecees gave a heartfelt message on Instagram before reporting to serve his sentence in 2015. “Young men let my life be an example to you now before it’s too late. Better who you are now in your children’s lives and in society so you can change the path of your fate,” he wrote.
“To my wife and children, you are all strong and well prepared for this. This is just another brick laid down towards our house of happily ever after, walk with your head held high knowing I would never past the buck and put another family through what we have endured. Continue to walk in faith and love as you’ve done so well.”
