Zab Judah is going through it. The 39-year-old was arrested for owing more than $100,000 in unpaid child support earlier this week.
According to media, Zab was in Queens County Family Court on Wednesday because he owed $120,000 in back support and lacked the means to pay. The judge sentenced the former boxer to 90 days in jail after Zab confessed to being unable to pay at least ten percent of the debt.
“He was sentenced to three months to jail and taken away in hand cuffs because he couldn’t pay $12,000,” an inside source revealed. An attorney present for another case also witnessed the moment that Zab was sentenced and taken away in handcuffs. “After the Judge ruled, he looked like he was knocked out,” the lawyer said. “He stood, was handcuffed and seemed dazed as he was taken away.”
This isn’t the first time that Zab Judah has encountered custody woes. The star athlete found himself in a similar predicament in 2002 when the mother of his daughter, Zabriah, took her case of unpaid child support to Manhattan Family Court. The then-active boxer had a warrant issued for his arrest out of Queens as well because of his failure to appear in family court all while being sued by his daughter Amisia’s mother, Natasia Wright.
“He gave her a box of used children’s clothes,” Natasia’s lawyer told media of Zab’s Christmas present to his then-infant daughter.
It was just a last week that Zab Judah shared pictures of two of his children online. The former boxer uploaded a photo of his daughter wearing a crown in honor of her birthday and a separate candid of his son standing beside him. “He told me he’s going to be an entrepreneur,” Judah captioned. “I told him that’s why schools important.”
