HALLE BERRY: ‘I HAVE A DAUGHTER AND SHE IS GOING TO HAVE TO WORK’

The struggle to find a balance between working and parenting is real; just ask Halle Berry. The actress tells media that mommy guilt is an everyday thing for her because of a work schedule that sometimes calls her away from home and her children.

“You don’t ever balance it completely,” the celebrity mom reveals to PEOPLE. “It’s a constant struggle of a little more time there, a little more time here, and feeling a little bit guilty all the time.”

Halle began her life as a working mom nearly ten years ago when she returned to her acting career shortly after welcoming her daughter, Nahla. The star parent really tested the barriers of home-work life after giving birth to her son, Maceo, in 2013. It was during this time that Halle was the star of a television series, which meant long days onset all while caring for an infant.

“I just keep telling all my mom friends who work that it’s ok to give ourselves a little slack sometime and not let the guilt sit on us so heavily and know that we are doing the best we can,” Halle says of her mindset now that she’s able to get a few more breaks in between to be with her kids.

“Having careers and being fulfilled that way makes us better mother,” the celebrity parent explains. “I have a daughter and she is going to have to work and I want her to work and have that independence and be the captain of her ship in life. She is learning that this is what she will have to do to.”

Nahla celebrated her ninth birthday in March. Halle Berry’s son, Maceo, turns 4-years-old in October.
